24 is one of the greatest television programmes ever and can be bought in DVD box sets. 24 is very much action packed with tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the lead character Jack Bauer struggles to save the world from all kinds of threats.
Jack Bauer works in the Los Angeles CTU which is the Counter Terrorist Unit and through the various seasons he has different roles there. The basic premise is that there is a threat from terrorists and it is up to CTU to stop the threat but it is never that simple with Jack having to go to all kinds of lengths and put himself in incredible danger in order to save the day.
The great thing about 24 is that it is in real time, so an hour in the storyline is an hour in real time and so you get to see all of the action which makes it very tense. It is called 24 because one season spans 24 hours with an hour per episode, you have to understand though that when watching it on television there are commercial breaks and these are obviously not on the DVD and so on the DVD the episodes are shorter than an hour. The real time format is very effective as it really cranks up the action as you see it in so much detail and you also get allot of night action which is cool.
The DVD box sets of 24 are excellent as they contain a huge amount of entertainment and are very cheap when you consider you are getting 6-7 discs. When the new 24 box set is released it usually costs around £30 but you can get the old seasons for much cheaper online. They also usually contain many special features which are excellent for 24 fans with documentaries, interviews and commentaries being the highlights.
If you have never watched 24 then we strongly suggest that you buy series 1 and give it a try, it is the oldest and so is not as polished as the later seasons but it is still very good indeed and will give you a taster of what to expect from the later seasons.
